The BOSM English Press sat down with Salil Krishna Gyanani, the Coordinator of the Gaming Club, to talk about the club and its activities leading up to BOSM.
The club holds “Ignition” during BOSM—a competitive gaming event—which includes games like Tekken, FIFA, BGMI, Valorant, and Clash Royale. Salil mentioned that Ignition is slated to be one of the biggest college events across North India, with over a thousand colleges participating. Apart from this, there is a wide array of console games that can be enjoyed by casual gamers. The club is also introducing Oculus Metaquest on campus for the first time.
The preparatory work included procuring inventory, setting up the equipment, and floating the registration forms. Salil shared that the preparations had been going on smoothly and he hoped to ‘pull off a great event’.
Salil conveyed that while the club had not faced any major problems, there had been a communication delay with some departments. ‘There was delay in the pitching meets, but apart from that every department has been amazing and collaborative,’ he added. He mentioned that the remote location of Pilani had been an enduring challenge, and interested sponsors had backed off in the past due to the logistical difficulties it presents.
Talking about his experience as the coordinator, he shared that it was a fun learning experience, albeit hectic. He described the new recruits as ‘a very exciting batch’ and expressed hope that they would uphold the level of performance the gaming club has maintained till now.
On a concluding note, Salil invited the students to check out their stalls and emphasised that gaming was a great stress buster.
