General Secretary

With APOGEE just around the corner, Aryan Khorana, the General Secretary of the Students’ Union, took some time out of his busy schedule to share insights about his role in organising the fest.

As the CoStAAn in charge of inventory, Aryan stated that he oversaw critical aspects of APOGEE operations, with his primary responsibility being the management and maintenance of all equipment and materials purchased by clubs and departments for the fest, as well as the upkeep of existing inventory. He added that he also worked closely with the rest of CoStAA to oversee the fest’s budget and finances.

Aryan explained that he thoroughly checked the inventory by conducting regular physical inspections throughout the semester and creating an online inventory portal. He mentioned that physical checks had also been performed during Oasis ’24, albeit with some issues because they had been implemented for the first time. He then stated that he was better prepared for his duties for the upcoming fest.

Addressing the budget cuts, Aryan explained that “APOGEE ledger was negative”, which meant that the fest had failed to generate any profits last year, and was operating at a net loss. He claimed that CoStAA tried its best to keep expenses low and revenue high for APOGEE ’25, citing the conduction of the food fest as one such measure. Aryan added that he believed that the budget cuts would not lead to a decline in the quality of the fest, and that all events would be conducted with the same enthusiasm.

When asked about the rumour that there would be no Prof Shows conducted in this edition of the fest, Aryan stated that he could not give a definite answer. He explained that the financial constraints had made conducting a Prof Show difficult without generating more losses. He remarked that this was the first time CoStAA had faced this situation, and assured the AEP that they were in the midst of figuring out ways to organise the same profitably.

Talking about his favourite part of organising a fest, Aryan mentioned that he enjoyed working with CoStAA and learning new things. He remarked that he was lucky to work with his fellow CoStAAns and appreciated them, adding that coordinating with them was a smooth process ‘since they were all good friends’.

Concluding the interview, Aryan asked the GBM to have faith in CoStAA and stated that they were working hard to make APOGEE ‘25 memorable, fun and profitable. He also revealed that this APOGEE would feature a surprise event, and urged BITSians to look out for it.
