The General Secretary of the Students’ Union (SU), Abhinav Lamba, took some time out of his tight schedule for an interview with the Oasis English Press to provide some insights into his work for the fest. The General Secretary, SU is the StuCCAn of Inventory for Oasis, responsible for the inventory requirements of all clubs and departments.
Abhinav said that he is made aware of the inventory requirements of clubs and departments during Event Pitching Meets, fulfilling which is his primary responsibility. He highlighted his plans to make a centralised inventory portal with the Department of Visual Media (DVM), where coordinators can list their inventory requirements directly, to reduce the time taken by this process.
He remarked that the major challenge he faced was the absence of inventory data from the past few years, owing to poor maintenance, which necessitated a consolidated maintenance mechanism. He intended to establish a database on Google Drive for future reference.
He stated that the attendance this year would be better than the previous Oasis. He highlighted that to promote media publicity, he was trying to call artists on YouTube with 20-30 thousand subscribers. He also assured readers of better food stalls at this Oasis, announcing that negotiations to get eight to ten major brands were underway.
Abhinav proceeded to explain some major changes in scheduling as part of Oasis ‘23 — the Hip-Hop×EDM Nite, which is regularly scheduled on the first day of the fest, is now scheduled for the last day, with the Bollywood Nite taking its place. He highlighted that Kr$na and Nucleya have been invited for the Hip-Hop×EDM Nite. He also mentioned his attempts to organise a free prof show in Rotunda this Oasis, depending on its financial and operational feasibility. He also highlighted his plans to organise a Halloween Party in the Lecture Theatre Complex (LTC), for which work was underway.
Finally, he said that working on Oasis ‘23 as a StuCCAn has made the fest dear to him and requested everyone to attend the fest as he too was giving his best.
