Pilani is a small town located in the Jhunjhunu district of north-eastern Rajasthan. There are multiple ways of travelling to Pilani, including by air, by road, by rail, by bus, or a combination of these, depending on where you’re travelling from.
BY AIR
The nearest airports to Pilani are the ones in Delhi and Jaipur. From there, you must travel by train, taxi or bus. This is a reasonably affordable and popular way to get to Pilani for people who reside far away.
BY ROAD
Pilani is located approximately 200 km west of Delhi and 220 km north of Jaipur. The journey from either Delhi or Jaipur to Pilani by road takes around 5 to 6 hours. It is recommended that cabs or buses be pre-booked to avoid hassle and unwanted wait times at the airport or bus station. It is recommended to avoid making this journey at night, as low visibility on these roads make them unsafe to travel on.
The various routes highlighted in the above figure are described as follows:
- Jaipur – Manoharpur – Kotputli – Narnaul – Chirawa – Pilani (225 Kms)
- Jaipur – Manoharpur – Kotputli – Narnaul – Chirawa – Pilani (225 Kms)
- Delhi – Bahadurgarh – Jhajjar – Charkhi Dadri – Loharu – Pilani (182 Kms) (This route is not recommended because of the poor road conditions during the monsoon season)
- Delhi – Bahadurgarh – Rohtak – Bhiwani – Loharu – Pilani (208 Kms)
- Delhi – Gurgaon – Rewari – Mahendragarh – Satnali – Loharu – Pilani (220 Kms)
- Jaipur – Chomun – Ringus – Sikar – Nawalgarh – Jhunjhunu – Chirawa – Pilani (224 Kms)
BY BUS
Direct buses to Pilani are frequently available from Delhi (ISBT, Kashmiri Gate) and Jaipur (RSRTC Bus Stand, Sindhi Camp). The campus is very close to the Pilani bus stand.
BY RAIL
Pilani is not accessible directly by rail; the nearest railway stations are in Chirawa and Loharu, at a distance of 16 kilometres and 23.5 kilometres from Pilani respectively.
Loharu, being the more popular choice, has a variety of trains that can be found traversing to and from Delhi Cantonment (DEC) or Delhi Sarai Rohilla (DEE). Around three trains run from Delhi to Loharu daily — BKN SF EXP (12457), INTERCITY EXP (22472), and TKJ SGNR PASS (54768).
Prices of tickets vary based on the train, the timings, and the type of class or tier of seat one chooses. Please check the IRCTC website for the latest information on the timings, availability and prices of train seats.
Buses and cabs are readily available to travel to Pilani, making transport from the station to the campus relatively trouble-free.
