Getting to Pilani

Transportation

Most people make their journey to campus via Delhi or Jaipur. There is the option of travelling in a cab or a bus from these places as well as the alternative of a train journey. Many prefer travelling via Delhi over Jaipur owing to the greater number of flights and cab, bus and train services.

On-Road

Travel agencies provide pre-booked cabs and buses from the airports. Booking cabs or AC buses in advance should be preferred over crowded local buses due to the current circumstances. It takes roughly 4.5–5.5 hours to reach campus from both Delhi and Jaipur. The Students’ Union usually has a tie-up with the Pilani-based travel agency, Verma Tour and Travels, to arrange for buses and cabs between Pilani and Delhi or Jaipur for BITS students. This year, they have collaborated with Dhruv Tours and Travels and one can avail the SU cab services through the form link which has been mailed to all students.

From Delhi

One can choose from the three common routes to campus :

  1. Delhi–Gurgaon–Sultanpur–Farukh Nagar–Jhajjar–Charkhi Dadri–Loharu–Pilani [220km]
  2. Delhi–Gurgaon–Dharuhera–Rewari–Narnaul–Singhana–Chirawa–Pilani [225km]
  3. Delhi–Rohtak–Bhiwani–Loharu–Pilani [220km]

It is recommended that you start your journey early in the day to avoid travelling when it gets dark; the low visibility makes the roads unsafe for travel.

Regular buses for Pilani ply from ISBT, Kashmiri Gate between 5:40 AM and 10:00 PM.

From Jaipur

People usually take the Jaipur–Chomu–Ringus–Sikar–Nawalgarh–Chirawa–Pilani route when travelling to campus by road from Jaipur. The cab rates are similar to Delhi and one can board buses from the Sindhi Camp bus stand between 4:00 AM and 12:00 AM.

Train travel

Chirawa (16km) and Loharu (24km) are the train stations nearest to the campus. Loharu—the preferred place to get down, owing to the regular transport—is about 40 minutes away by bus or cab. Travelling from the station to campus is hassle-free due to the high availability of cabs and buses.

One can catch direct trains to Loharu from Sarai Rohilla Station (DEE), Old Delhi Railway Station (DLI), and New Delhi Railway Station (NDLS).

Note: Visit the IRCTC website for the latest information on the train timings before planning your travel.
