Gurukul

With Oasis just around the corner, the Oasis English Press sat down with the Joint Coordinator of Gurukul, Snehanshn Nath to discuss their work for the upcoming fest.

Snehanshn said the club was gearing up to organise two events this Oasis, Drum Duels and Axetacy, which were competitions for drummers and guitarists respectively. He explained that there would be two rounds of each, with the qualifying round scheduled to be held in the Gurukul room at SAC-6. He also added that the top four contestants would perform in the final round at VK Lawns with the top two being awarded cash prizes. Apart from these, the club would also be participating in the music competition Tarang, where they have been in the top two spots since the last two editions of Oasis.

He explained that one of their usual events, Free Jam, had to be scrapped for this edition of Oasis due to logistical issues. He elaborated that the equipment that was set up was often mishandled by the participants. Snehanshn shared that they were done with the semester production, Dhwani, and that there was not much to do to prepare. He said that most of the work revolved around organising the final rounds of the competitions, which are done in the last few days before the fest.

When asked about his experience as a Joint Coordinator, he said that the responsibility had been tough and overwhelming to manage alongside his academics. He shared that despite having dealt with many sleepless nights, scheduling, and attending practices, it was all worth it in the end and described it as a ‘magical experience’. He added that performing with his batchmates and teaching his juniors was a lot of fun.

Snehanshn mentioned that he found Oasis very engaging and shared that his personal favourite event was Rocktaves. As a parting note, he shared that the motto of Gurukul is to teach and learn from others, and he hopes that it will remain so in the future.
