Gurukul

Despite the obvious signs of exhaustion on his face, Gurukul coordinator, Devashish Pant, was fired up about Oasis as he described the events the club has planned this year. Gurukul is responsible for three events – Free Jam, Drums Duel and Ecstasy.

Drums Duel is an opportunity for percussionists to showcase their prowess. It is a face-off between drummers and happens in two rounds – the first judged by Gurukul members and the second by professionals. Ecstasy is a competition for guitarists where the participants hope to finger their way to the prize. Free Jam takes place every night of the fest near the food stalls and defines the ambience of M-lawns. A stage is set up which is open for whoever wants to perform or jam. A sizeable crowd may be seen enjoying the
music and the mood. The three events require minimal preparatory work.

Gurukul is also participating in Tarang, a competition for Indian music. The musical standards of the fest are on the rise and the club is planning to up its game by coming up with its own composition. Although practice for Tarang has been taxing, Devashish assures us that the members of the club are working tirelessly as a team and lending him their complete support to keep the boat afloat. He hopes that the club is able to pull off a stellar performance and invites everyone to attend Gurukul’s events.
