The BOSM English Press sat down with Aman Dihora, the captain of the Handball Team, to gain insight into the team’s preparations for the upcoming edition of BOSM.

Aman elucidated that handball was a fast-paced team sport in which two teams of seven players each compete to score goals in a semi-circular zone at each end of a rectangular field. He added that the players must use their hands to throw, catch, or bounce the ball, taking a maximum of three steps while holding the ball for not more than three seconds.

Aman mentioned that the team had mainly been practising attacks and defences, given the stamina-heavy nature of handball and the extensive amount of running required. He further noted that they also practised with the Birla Public School handball team, which had a few talented players. 

Aman mentioned that the team had finished in second place in many previous editions of BOSM, citing a lack of stamina as the primary reason. He emphasised that the team had focused on improving this in this year’s training, along with practising their attacks. Talking about the new recruits, Aman said that only a few would be playing in this BOSM as the team had more experienced players. Moreover, he stated that the team expected fierce competition from the IIT-BHU team during the upcoming BOSM.

Regarding his experience as the captain, he mentioned that he had received help from his seniors and remarked that the team had been quite supportive. Aman highlighted poor lighting at the handball ground as one of the key challenges the team had been facing for the past three years. He mentioned that he had contacted the institute authorities for the same, but had not received much support due to the inadequate budget for handball, remaining hopeful that new lights would be installed later.

On a concluding note, Aman remained confident about the handball team’s victory in the upcoming BOSM.
