In addition to its multiple cultural events scattered throughout the year, the Haryana Cultural Association is eagerly looking forward to sustaining its spirited involvement with the latest edition of BOSM.
This year, HCA plans on organising two open-for-all events – Kabaddi and Tug of War. The association’s events, conducted in GymG, are exceedingly popular and see heavy participation from BITSians as well as outstation participants. With Tug of War being a new event, and Kabaddi a crowd favourite, the HCA coordinator Sparsh Dhingra is leaving no stone unturned in ensuring that both events attract an energetic audience and go smoothly.
While the former isn’t a cause for concern, since classes are restricted to the mornings while the events are conducted in the evenings, the association is putting in a lot of effort into its preparation for both events. In the days leading up to BOSM, the association focuses on publicising its events and compiling an inventory. Last year, the association faced some problems with the same, as a result of which Kabaddi could not start on the first day of the fest. Accordingly, Dhingra is pulling out all the stops to prevent that instance from repeating this time around.
In Dhingra’s first year on campus, HCA conducted Kabaddi for the first time, and the association, as a whole, has come a long way since. According to him, BOSM events help raise awareness about the association and its work, the impact of which is reflected in the steady rise in new members every subsequent year.
Dhingra is enjoying his experience as the coordinator. His dealings with the CoSSAc have been fruitful so far, and he hopes that they continue to remain so. When asked what message he had for BITSians, Dhingra responded with an enthusiastic ‘Khel Kabaddi!’.
