Haryana Cultural Association

Haryanvis may be known for their prowess in playing games, but the Haryana Cultural Association (HCA) is out to prove that they’re just as good at organizing them. For BOSM 2018, the HCA is back with their two flagship events- Kabbadi and Tug Of War- and they aim to make them as exciting as ever. The BOSM English Press caught up with their coordinator, Rahul Godara, to ask about his association’s plans for this year’s edition.

In the last few weeks leading up to BOSM, the HCA is focusing mainly on event publicity. They are expecting heavy footfall this time, as teasers were played during association nights. They also plan to put up posters and send out emails. The two events – Kabbadi and Tug Of War – span over three evenings, starting from day one of the fest.

The HCA has been hosting Kabbadi for many years now. Teams that want to play are matched up against each other. Godara hopes to capitalise on last years’ success and is in dialogue with the CoSSAc to award prize money to the top two kabbadi teams. However last year, the HCA’s new event, Tug Of War, stole the spotlight and was highly popular. Godara hopes to carry on the momentum of the new event as well.

With the hustle of two major events, one may wonder how Godara manages the work. In preparation for the events, the HCA meets up twice a week. “Juniors are quite impressive in their work, they have worked very hard and events have gone smoothly throughout,” says Godara.

Godara enjoys the work and smiles recollecting his HCA memories. Being from the same state, speaking the same language, and conducting BOSM together is a fulfilling experience for the members of the HCA.
