The Oasis English Press reached out to Moksh Gupta, the Coordinator of the Hindi Press Club (HPC), to discuss their preparations for the upcoming cultural fest, Oasis.
Moksh explained that HPC worked on Hindi publications, newsletters, and the WallMag, all aimed at celebrating Hindi literature and language. He shared that this year HPC was hosting an event titled Bluff Master, in line with the fest’s theme.
When questioned about the financial changes introduced by the Students’ Union (SU) to make this year’s fest possible, Moksh deliberated on the effect of the decision on the GBM. He also shared his disappointment with the drastic reductions in the budget being allocated to the club. He stated that HPC was expecting minimal changes in their budget, however, their assigned budget was redacted to less than a tenth of that of last year. Nonetheless, Moksh was understanding of the circumstances and appreciated the efforts being made by SU to keep the legacy of Oasis alive.
Moksh explained that his role as Coordinator revolved around managing all events across the four verticals within the club. He stated that the guide to being a good Coordinator was to uplift the spirits of club members, even during the gloomiest times. He added that he enjoyed contributing to the club’s publications as a writer and formatter.
On a parting note, Moksh sincerely asked his fellow BITSians to value the efforts being put together across the board by all the clubs, departments, associations, and unions to make this fest possible. He reminded the students to enjoy the fest in a safe and secure manner.
