Moksha Aggarwal took some time off of his busy schedule to chat with the APOGEE English Press and provide some insight into the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers’ (IEEE) work for APOGEE 2022.
Moksha explained the three events IEEE has planned for this APOGEE. Hackathon is a competition where an ‘ambiguous theme’ will be decoded by the students the way they see it. Next is Macromouse, an event that is driven along the age-old maze scenario, where the students have to create a bot that traverses a maze. The third event is a Deep Learning competition, where students will have to simulate a code for a given problem statement.
IEEE has induced this year’s theme for APOGEE, the ‘Encrypted Dimension’, in its events during the fest by deriving concepts behind the events from the similar idea, signaling that all the students are in for a ‘surprise’.
Moksha expressed the thrill of organising an event from scratch, and the experience of witnessing an offline APOGEE for the first time. He said that it was a milestone for him because it is one of the first offline technical fests after a two-year sabbatical. He said that planning and designing case-based problem situations had taken the IEEE months of effort.
Moksha also mentioned that he is expecting an ‘overwhelming’ turnout in participation, not only from BITSians, but also from students placed in outstation campuses. He has had his share of difficulties with the responsibility of being a coordinator but he is looking forward to hosting his event.
