Amidst the hectic preparations for APOGEE, Kaushal Duggar, the coordinator for the International Finance Student Association (IFSA) sat down with the APOGEE English Press to discuss the work the IFSA would be doing for APOGEE.
When prompted about the events being held during APOGEE, Kaushal said that the IFSA would be organising a finance case competition with an emphasis on corporate finance, especially mergers and acquisitions. The event has been divided into three parts. The first round would be an online quiz competition conducted on UNSTOP. The second round would be a presentation round, where teams would be given a problem statement and they would be required to make a presentation on it. The third and final round would be an offline presentation round, with the top ten teams from the previous round. He also mentioned that this would be the first finance-based case competition in APOGEE.
Kaushal mentioned that to prepare for this event, IFSA reached out to various famed commerce colleges such as the Shri Ram College of Commerce, Hindu College, and even some MBA colleges. He also said that they were still in the process of holding an Excel Case competition, which would act as the eliminator for the finance case competition.
When the topic of potential challenges being faced by the organisation was broached, Kaushal said that the only challenge so far was the lack of experience, as this would be the first time such an event is being held. He also mentioned that judging the event could be an issue, but they made sure to practise beforehand to avoid any mishaps.
When asked about his experience as a coordinator, Kaushal said that it had been a lot of work. Trying to manage deadlines and fill the right forms while also maintaining proper communication with the departments, and respecting the department’s opinions while putting their thoughts out, was hectic.
Finishing off the interview Kaushal said that he hopes that the event turns out to be a success so that they could organise more such related events in the future. He also hopes to see a lot of participation from the general public as well.
