The Inauguration Ceremony is the official kick-off of the BITS Open Sports Meet, 2019. It will take place in the Main Auditorium from 6:30 PM onwards and features performances from various clubs of BITS Pilani. The Ceremony starts with an introduction of the CoSSAc, the core committee behind planning BOSM, followed by their write-ups before the Chief Guest and the Vice-Chancellor arrive. The assembled dignitaries then address the gathering followed by a keynote address from the Chief Guest. 

The Inauguration also showcases the various clubs of BITS Pilani in the form of performances. This year, Gurukul will take the stage to play their musical melodies for the audience. The inauguration marks the beginning of the fest and the audience moves to Gym G, where they partake in the attractions that BOSM has to offer.

Tania Sachdev, the Chief Guest for BOSM 2019, is a world-renowned chess player who has attained the title of International Master and Woman Grand Master. Starting from the early age of 6, her incredible aptitude for the game resulted in her very first international title, which she achieved at the age of eight; it was one of the many achievements of her prodigious chess career as a child. Her other achievements include the under-12 Indian champion, bronze at the 1998 World U12 Girls Championship, the 2000 Asian U14 girls’ champion, and the 2002 Asian Junior Girls Championship.

She has won innumerable awards in her illustrious career since then. She is also a chess presenter and commentator and was a part of the official commentary team for the 2013 World Championship Match between Vishwanathan Anand and Magnus Carlsen.

Hailing from a family with a diverse and rich sports background, getting into the world of sports was an easy jump for Tania. Along with growing as a sportsperson, she has also become a prominent influencer and role model for aspiring sportspersons all across the world. Her enigmatic personality and cool nature have made her a rapidly growing commentator in various Chess tournaments around the World. Tania has proven that with dedication and passion, achieving any goal is possible. A recipient of the Arjuna Award and a wide variety of awards too numerous to list, she is truly an inspiration for women everywhere.
