With Oasis just around the corner and the festive fervour at an all-time high, the Oasis English Press managed to get hold of Indic Club’s Coordinator, Vaidik Sharma, and have a chat with him about their preparations for the upcoming fest. He was accompanied by the off-campus coordinator, Varad Bidwai.
Vaidik shared that the club is organising two events for Oasis. The first event is “Dyuta Krida”, a board game that spans across the timeline of medieval and ancient history. ‘We spent two laborious months handcrafting maps of every kingdom with utmost intricacy to ensure an authentic experience’, he added. The second event, “Chakravarti” is a card game which offers insight into the minds of ancient rulers.
Vaidik mentioned that the club immersed themselves while preparing for the two events, taking inspiration from speakers like Ravi Gumatam and Srinivas Reddy. He went on to share that they invested a large portion of their time delving into Indic scriptures, managing to unravel unknown facts about the history of India. He remarked that these aspects are reflected in their board and card games.
Vaidik commented that despite being the coordinator of the club, he felt only a ‘subtle change in his experience’. ‘Everyone has the same contribution irrespective of the position of power they hold. The Vedas inspired us to have a decentralized system of power where everyone has opportunities’, he added.
On being asked what general message he’d like to send out to BITSians, Vaidik calmly replied with ‘athato brahma jijnasa’ — which translates to — ‘Come and question the truth’. He explained that he feels the current world is in utter chaos, resembling a rat race, and urged everyone to seek the truth.
