Inspired Karters Gravity

The APOGEE English Press had the opportunity to sit down with Shriya, the coordinator for Inspired Karters Gravity (IKR-G), to gain insight into the club’s work during the fest.

Shriya shared that IKRG was hosting an event for the first time to increase the club’s exposure. Inspired by their roots, they would be holding an ‘only-for-fun’ Go-Karting event in front of the Lecture Theatre Complex (LTC). The participants will be charged on the number of laps they wished to do, either two or five, on the Go-Kart.

IKR-G’s main work lies outside of the fests. They compete in karting and technical competitions, both in India and abroad. When asked about the preparations for this year’s edition of APOGEE, Shriya shared that the ideation process was completed by December.

Shriya also explained that Pilani’s remote location proved to be the biggest challenge in handling the transportation of parts, coordination with vendors, and the overall workflow. She also affirmed that despite the challenges, a major chunk of the work was complete and only slight modifications were to be made. This includes the designs for the flags, tires, lights, and the overall look of the track.

She shared that her experience as coordinator had been both challenging and fun as she gained experience in working with the CoStAA, arranging meets, speaking to vendors, and managing a team. Concluding the interview, she reiterated, `Come and experience the thrill of live Go-Karting on campus along with your friends, to add to your APOGEE experience.’
