Ramsanjive and Raghav, the joint coordinators of KalamVansh, spoke to the Oasis English Press (OEP) about their experience in preparing for the upcoming fest.
KalamVansh is the hip-hop club of BITS Pilani. They compose and perform their own art, which mainly consists of rapping, music production, and beatboxing. They also organise listening and interactive sessions centred around Hip-Hop.
KalamVansh is responsible for creating the Oasis theme song this year, with them already having created the BOSM anthem of ‘23, “Roar of Resilience”. They are also holding “KalamVansh Unplugged”, where they will be performing an hour-long set at T-Lawns.
Their work as coordinators mainly consists of coordinating with all the music producers, beatboxers, and rappers. Their tasks include checking up on the daily progress and looking after the streamlining of the show.
Ramsanjive and Raghav reported that most of their struggle in preparation for the fest was that they are a new club — so they are generally looked at with cynicism. However, producing the BOSM theme song proved their mettle and got them included in the charter.
They also reported having problems with art blocks. ‘You cannot put art on a deadline’, Raghav commented. He added that everyone in the club is doing their best to overcome these blocks in their own way, like reading up on books or listening to songs of different genres.
They shared that both of them had been enthusiastic about Hip-Hop ever since they had come to college. Talking about his experience as the coordinator, Ramsanjive commented, ‘We have found a chance to promote Hip-Hop culture on campus on a scale never imagined before.’
On a concluding note, Raghav remarked that they are trying to make the best discography and art from their side and look forward to active participation from the audience.
