The Oasis English Press sat down with Devangi Chaudhari, the coordinator of the Karaoke Club, for a conversation about the upcoming fest.

Devangi said that instead of hosting the usual event, “Game of Tones”, the club would be hosting an all-new event this year called “Scrontro”, a DJ battle. She added that it would consist of two rounds, of which the preliminary stage would be an online submission round. 

Devangi mentioned that since the club was hosting this event for the first time, they faced many challenges during preparations. She stated that ‘DJing is not a very big art form’, so it was hard to get publicity and registrations. She added that getting a prize pool fixed was also a tough task, and as the event was new, it was also challenging for the club to get sponsors for the event. She stated that the Department of Sponsorship and Marketing had been very helpful in securing sponsors, and as a result, the event would be sponsored by Horus Music. 

Devangi explained that the Karaoke Club was formed for people who had a genuine interest in singing and the ability to grow. Besides Oasis, she added that the club did semesterly nights and also performed during APOGEE. Devangi hoped the event would be a success and desired to make it a kernel event in future fests.

In conclusion, Devangi said that she had a good time being a coordinator and urged all BITSians to come to “Scrontro”.
