With Oasis right around the corner, the Oasis English Press sat with Samyak Savi, the Coordinator of the Mathematics Association, to discuss their plans and preparations for the fest.
Samyak informed that this year, they were hosting a campus-wide treasure hunt titled Sherlock vs Moriarty. He also stated the storyline for the hunt this year drew heavy inspiration from the theme, Regal Roulette.
When questioned about the preparatory work leading up to the fest, Samyak responded that identifying safe, yet hard to find locations within campus premises for hiding different clues was the main task. Moving on, Samyak sympathised with the Students’ Union, and was understanding of the financial changes they introduced to make this year’s fest possible. He remarked that he was glad to see that the allocated prize pool for their event had increased from last year.
Samyak stated that having previously worked as Joint Coordinator for APOGEE gave him exposure to the technicalities required to manage and control the association’s events. He shared that as Coordinator, his role was to primarily supervise and divide work amongst new recruits. Samyak believed that clear and explicit communication amongst team members was key to conduct a successful event. He remained hopeful of conducting a successful event during this edition of Oasis and requested the students to join them for the treasure hunt.
