With Oasis just around the corner, the Oasis English Press sat down with Ameya Shende, the Coordinator of the Mathematics Association, to learn more about their preparations for Oasis ‘25. 

Ameya explained that this year the Mathematics Association will be conducting three events—Sherlock versus Moriarty, the House of Bluffs, and the Shogun Showdown. He stated that the latter two are  new events being introduced at this Oasis. 

While discussing the events, Ameya informed us that Sherlock versus Moriarty is a pre-fest treasure hunt event that concluded in the morning of November 1, 2025. The House of Bluffs would comprise three casino-style mini games, which would not just be luck-based but would also require wit. The Shogun Showdown would be conducted in collaboration with the Indian Game Theory Society of Delhi Technological University (DTU). It would consist of two rounds, the first round being online. Players who qualified the online round would compete in the last round.

When questioned about his experience as Coordinator, Ameya mentioned that he has an amazing team which worked relentlessly for a successful event. Ameya said that the event Shogun Showdown was finalised after the budget allocation and preparing for it was a little challenging for them. Apart from that, they did not face any setbacks. Ameya hoped that his event would see good participation and that people would enjoy the games along with their friends.
