With Oasis just around the corner, the whole campus has been gearing up to get immersed in the realms of fiction. The literature and cinema society of BITS Pilani, Matrix, is no different.
During the semester, Matrix regularly organises discussions on books and movies, offering the BITSian population the opportunity to converse about books, movies, and anime with like minded people. In addition, the club organises open-to-all movie screenings.
While the discussions and debates are a core part of the culture of the club, the club also enthusiastically organises three events during Oasis – the Triathlon, the Anime quiz, and several movie screenings. The Triathlon, as the name suggests, is a collection of three events that occur simultaneously – a Treasure Hunt, a quiz on minimalist posters, and a new event called “What Happened Next? – and so, different participants of a team attempt different events. The events, in accordance with the theme, revolve around the fields of literature and cinema. The Anime Quiz is, obviously, a quiz for all the otakus on campus who wish to test their knowledge against other anime fans.
The Matrix co-ordinator for Oasis, Sankara Prasad, expects a good turn out for the events, especially as the theme this year is very much in resonance with the ideology of the club, and most of the events reflect that. As a coordinator, he hopes that all the hard work the club has put in will attract people for the events, and invites everyone on campus to participate.
