As APOGEE ’26 draws near, the APOGEE English Press sat down with Tanush Srivastava, the APOGEE Coordinator of the Mime Club, to discuss their upcoming fest activities.
Tanush stated that the Mime Club’s purpose was to ‘take a comedic take on campus life through their scripts’. To fulfill this purpose, they aimed to give the fest a great start at the Inauguration. He explained that this year, the club had prepared three acts: two stage acts and one video act. Out of the two stage acts, one was a regular act while the other was a special act, accompanied by the use of neon paints and UV lights to portray a story. The video act was a short film of about twenty minutes, which Tanush worded as their ‘semester production’.
Tanush stated that apart from this, the Mime Club was to host two separate events—Fun Words and Improv Comedy. Both of these events would be team-based competitive events with in-kind prizes.Â
When asked about their preparatory work preceding the fest, Tanush mentioned that their practice sessions had started from mid-January. He added that up until March, they were practising primarily in FD-2, after which they had moved to the auditorium about a week before the fest’s commencement to perfect their stage performances.
Tanush explained the inner workings of the club by outlining its three verticals: Acting, Sounds and Video. He also mentioned that all the verticals initially practised separately, but at the end of every session, they performed together to perfect their sync. To ensure smooth coordination among the verticals, the club had two Joint Coordinators.
When asked about his experience as an APOGEE Coordinator, Tanush said that it had been a positive experience. He added that his team had been very tight-knit and in sync internally, despite the noticeable amount of time commitment required on a daily basis. He also mentioned that the departments from which they required assistance had also been very supportive.Â
On a parting note, Tanush urged his fellow BITSians to come to the Inauguration and enjoy it to the fullest, adding that a great deal of time and effort had gone into its preparation.
