Music Club (MuC)

he Oasis English Press (OEP) sat down with Aaryan Dhruva, the Coordinator of the Music Club (MuC), to gain some insights into their work for the fest.

Aaryan explained that the Music Club was performing at the Inauguration Ceremony, and apart from that, they would also conduct a vocals competition, Andholika, with separate male and female categories, each having an Eastern and Western category, accompanied by a live backing track by MuC. Aaryan explained that songs would be carefully chosen for the candidates, and the first two rounds would be judged by the vocals department of the club, while they would invite a professional judge for the final round.

He stated that the preparation for the inauguration ceremony was quite long, and the club began work a month in advance to decide the setlist and balance it well among all categories. When he was asked for a sneak peek into the set-list, Aaryan asked us to check the Instagram handles of MuC performers. Once the setlist was finalised, the practice sessions began, and the club worked to make the songs as authentic and accurate as possible through daily practice sessions. He thanked the StuCCA for trusting them with the set-list.

When asked about the setbacks the club faced, Aaryan said that one of the biggest setbacks was the equipment they use, which is quite old, like the sixteen-year-old drum kit and a few twenty-year-old guitars and basses. He added that due to the maintenance on their part, this equipment was still in working condition; however, when repairs were needed, it took time to procure funds.

When asked about his experience as a Coordinator, he said that it was quite tiring, but also very satisfying to see club members perform on stage and receive compliments for their work. He was proud of the effort that everyone put into making their events as perfect as possible.

As a parting message, he said he would really be looking forward to seeing all the readers attend the inauguration. He also urged them to attend Andholika, as it would be a fun music performance.
