National Service Scheme

The APOGEE English Press sat down with the coordinator of National Service Scheme (NSS), Srijan Ingle, to understand what NSS is planning for the upcoming fest.

Srijan started by explaining that they were conducting ImpactX, which was a case study competition designed to tackle contemporary social issues through critical analysis and innovative problem solving.

He further stated that they were also organising Samadhan, an event similar to Shark Tank, where social entrepreneurs presented solutions affecting everyday life in villages. He explained that it offered a stage for social entrepreneurs to pitch their ideas to judges already working in such fields. He said that the aim of the event was to help develop a sustainable business model for the most promising startups.

They were also organising Volunesia, he mentioned, a presentation-based competition wherein different social-service organisations across the country presented the work they had undertaken throughout the year. He added that the event provided a platform for the exchange of ideas and learning experiences.

Regarding pre-event preparations, he mentioned that contacting judges and inviting organisations from colleges near Pilani were major tasks. He added that coordination with other departments and clubs was streamlined due to their constant support.

When asked if NSS had pitched any new events during the Event Pitching Meetings, he acknowledged they had not done so this year due to budget constraints. However, he expressed hope for introducing new events in future editions.

Reflecting on his experience as coordinator so far, he commented that organising large-scale events such as Junoon or managing the NSS stall during Oasis were challenging yet rewarding experiences. He emphasised that despite the significant effort required during preparation for the events, he and his team derived satisfaction from contributing positively towards social change through these initiatives.
