Nirmaan

With just a few days remaining for BOSM, the BOSM English Press sat down with Harsh Malik, the Coordinator of Nirmaan, to talk about the club’s preparations for the fest.

Throughout the semester, Nirmaan conducts several activities related to their initiatives in the domains of education, women empowerment and public service. The School Adoption Program of Nirmaan regularly conducts teaching shifts for the students of a local government school. The members of the Unnati Program address various issues regarding women’s empowerment and educate the local women of Pilani on various matters. Nirmaan hosts a stall in each fest, selling products which are hand-made by the locals of Pilani. The club also organizes Kadam, which is an inter-school sports fest for the schools of Pilani.

This BOSM, the club will be introducing a new event called “Games Period”, promoting interaction between the BITSians, professors and students of the government school. Furthermore, Kadam, which was an event exclusively for Pilani schools, will also host the general BITSian public this year.

Harsh expressed his views on the weight of his responsibility as coordinator, and maintaining coordination between the various departments and programs within Nirmaan. He believes that giving back to the local community provides volunteers with a sense of completion. He also commented that through Nirmaan’s events, people will see the real India, and he encourages all BITSians to participate in their events.
