Department of Publications and Correspondence

As a constituent of StuCCA, the Department of Publications and Correspondence (PCr) has its hands full with preparations for Oasis. Vaibhav Jain, the StuCCAn of PCr, sat down with the Oasis English Press to shed some light on the department’s duties for the fest and his role as StuCCAn.

Vaibhav explained that PCr is responsible for contacting various colleges and inviting them to attend and participate in Oasis. He added that the department usually commences its duties three months prior to the fest, starting work under the design vertical in July. He added that reprography and the conduction of fest snaps.

On the workflow, Vaibhav remarked that the department is the main point of contact for other colleges and addresses their queries regarding the fest. It communicates with the colleges regarding their time of arrival and notifies the Department of Controls in advance if any of the teams require travel assistance. Vaibhav elaborated on the department’s approaches to various colleges, primarily in and around Delhi. He said that this year, universities from Punjab and Bangalore have also shown keen interest in attending the fest. According to him, Oasis’ reputation as the second largest fest in India precedes itself, which made their duties easier while pitching the events to the college teams.

Vaibhav also elaborated on some of the challenges faced by the department. He said that due to PCr’s work in both BOSM and Oasis, the department workforce had to be distributed, which slightly reduced their effectiveness. However, he felt that the department had recovered quite well. He mentioned the fact that this was the second Oasis being conducted after the COVID-19 outbreak and felt that the institute was rapidly getting back on its feet in terms of efficiency and quality of fests.

Vaibhav shared that his experience as a StuCCAn had been hectic, but rewarding. He also expressed his excitement about the line-up of this year’s artists and said that the GBM should have high expectations from the fest.

The interview concluded with Vaibhav telling the GBM to stay tuned for updates related to the fest and enjoy it to the fullest.
