Photography Club, BITS Pilani looks to ensure a wholesome experience for everybody, not just the shutterbugs, this Oasis. Photog is emphasising on increasing footfall in its events by introducing innovative variants in the traditional events. To maximise outreach, promotional content including videos and presentations has been prepared by Photog, which will be screened in the Auditorium, and displayed in the Lecture Hall. Exposure, the photo gallery, has a surprise included for viewers entering its exhibition in FD-II. The panels for the gallery usually showcase special techniques in photography, along with thematic photographs. The central panel has the theme “Eyes”, which, the Coordinator said was a particularly versatile theme for photographers to relate to and to conform to the fest theme itself.
A pre-fest online contest of the same name is also being conducted, whose entries will be judged by eminent photographers in the international circuit. “Oasis through my Eyes” is another Photog event, with contestants being judged not so much on quality, than the composition of the photos. The photos will be uploaded on Instagram with the hashtag #bitsphotog, and would depict various unknown facets of the fest we have all come to look forward to.
With Photog completing a decade in existence this year, a Wall of Fame showcasing photos by Photog alumni has been planned to commemorate the undying spirit of photography. Speaking about the challenges that the Club faced, Pulkit said that providing new content every year is a difficult task. With Pilani being such a remote area, subjects are few and scattered, members are forced to chip in for props, lighting, and travel to click worthy locations.
