With BOSM 2026 just around the corner, the BOSM English Press sat down with Hem Shah, coordinator of the Photography Club (Photog), to know more about the club’s work during the fest.
Hem started out by detailing what the club would be doing for the fest. Their primary job was to click pictures of the various sports matches happening throughout BOSM. Other than that, Photog also captured pictures for publicising the fest in their “Days to Go” series, which was posted on the official BOSM Instagram page and featured a sports photo alongside the countdown for BOSM. Additionally, in the weeks leading up to the fest, they were involved in covering pre-BOSM events and team practice sessions. This, according to Hem, was a good way for the photographers to get acquainted with sports and prepare for the actual fest photography. The club would also have their usual photobooth stall where attendees could get pictures taken and printed as Polaroids. Hem also mentioned the live panel, a montage of the previous day showcased via their best photos.
Speaking about his role as coordinator, Hem explained that he was responsible for assigning club members to cover different sports and making sure that everyone showed up when required. All members were divided into small groups, ensuring that they could cover all the events taking place and that no clashes occurred because of ongoing classes. He also mentioned that the club organised frequent photowalks and trips to boost morale and make sure they learnt new stuff along the way. These walks ensured members learnt how to handle a camera and gave them a chance to play with different angles, lighting and modes.
According to Hem, the biggest challenge faced by Photog in recent years was the small size of the workforce. This led to several events not being covered, and the pressure falling on the few active members. This year, however, they had planned accordingly, making sure greater manpower was available, and a proper schedule was followed by each member. He pointed out that each member brought a unique perspective, which proved extremely valuable while planning the shoots. He added that relations with the CoSSAc and SFC had been cordial, and they had not faced any logistical or financial issues while planning for BOSM.
Concluding the interview, Hem urged everyone to show up for the photobooth, get their pictures taken, and, in general, enjoy the fest and have a good time.
