Taha Raja, the coordinator of the Physics Association, sat down to have a chat with the APOGEE English Press regarding their work for the upcoming fest.
This APOGEE, the Physics Association will be conducting two events—SciFlix and a demonstration. Elaborating on SciFlix, Taha stated it would be ‘a fun, light-hearted event’ in which participants compete by debunking the physics of famous science fiction movies. Participants will analyse the science behind movies like Interstellar and present it to be judged. The club is tasked with inviting professors as judges and validating entries. The demonstration, an event that is being reintroduced after three years, has the Physics Association building experiments and putting them on display for everyone.
When asked if there were any key learnings from the last edition of APOGEE, Taha replied that the work experience gained has definitely made organisational tasks a little easier. Notwithstanding, they still had their fair share of challenges. Being held after a gap of three years, the demonstration has been slightly more challenging, as most members who last conducted this event have graduated.
Talking about his time as the coordinator, Taha remarked that his main responsibilities were delegating tasks to fellow members of the Physics Association and coordinating with CoStAA and the Students’ Union.
His only advice for the students was to enjoy APOGEE. He further asked those afraid of Physics to make a leap of faith and ‘go for it’.
