The Oasis English Press reached out to Abhigyan Shanker, coordinator of the Poetry Club, for a conversation about the upcoming fest. When asked about the events organised by the club, Abhigyan explained that there will be four main events—Chaupal, Purple Prose, Rap Wars, and Conspiring Minds. 

Talking about the club’s preparations for these events, Abhigyan said that ten preliminary rounds have already been conducted. Abhigyan mentioned that his good relations with organisations like Poetry Darbaar, Yellow Room Poetry, Bakaiti in Prayagraj, Agasthya Group in Jaipur, and Pride Club in Hyderabad, helped him a lot. The club also had to work on social media publicity with the organisations, personally contact poet groups and invite them to events. A major hurdle for Abhigyan had been finalising the venues for events. He stated that the Department of Sponsorship and Marketing along with the StuCCA had been very helpful in securing these venues. 

Besides Oasis, the Poetry Club conducts activities that inculcate a habit of reading and writing poems among members. They are planning to conduct a workshop in collaboration with Hindavi, a popular literary organisation. The workshop would be free for all BITSians to attend and would have an Open Mic. The top ten poets will be selected and their poems will be published by Hindavi in their anthology.  Poetry club also conducts a Basant book festival in collaboration with the library. 

In conclusion, Abhigyan said that he hopes that every BITSian has a blast during Oasis as it is being held after a very long time. He also hopes that people will be more appreciative of Hindi, Urdu and English poetry.
