With less than a week remaining until APOGEE 2024, all clubs are bustling with preparations for the fest, and the Poetry Club is no exception. Siri Sindhuram Rajyam, the club’s coordinator, took a moment to update the APOGEE English Press (AEP) on their activities leading up to the fest.
The club hosts a pre-APOGEE event called ‘Shaam-e-Sukhan’, a Qawwali Night. With three events under their belt, Sindhura mentioned that they now have a more prominent presence in the fest. They are going to organise ‘Conspiring Minds’, a game-based event managed by first-year members of the club; ‘Chaupal’, a kavi sammelan in collaboration with Amar Ujjala; and ‘Poetry Slam’, a slam poetry event featuring poets from the Delhi Poetry Slam Organization. The club has a set roster of events they organise each year, with modifications to align with the fest theme.
Upon reflecting on her role as the coordinator, Sindhura acknowledged that it had presented a considerable learning opportunity, though it proved to be quite daunting at times. ‘I felt like I was navigating uncharted waters, but looking back on this past month, handling logistics, learning the ropes, contacting people, I’ve found the experience rewarding,’ she remarked.
Throughout the year, the club hosts regular reading sessions where members share and discuss their poems and engage in literary discussions. Sindhura summed up the club as ‘a diverse group of individuals who are deeply immersed in cultural pursuits.
