Public Policy Club

The Public Policy Club (PPC) is an ideal place for anyone who wants to debate current events and global politics. Those who are preparing for competitive tests such as the CAT and UPSC will find it particularly useful, because it helps them stay up-to-date on current affairs. The APOGEE English Press (AEP) spoke briefly with Yash Kiswani, the APOGEE coordinator for the PPC, to learn more about the club and its plans for the upcoming fest.

Yash shared that the PPC will be conducting its hallmark event, RealPolitik, this APOGEE as well. RealPolitik is a competition wherein participants may build their own political parties by bidding on renowned politicians from the past and present. The factions will be judged on a wide range of factors, including public appeal, philosophy, and gender and regional representation. Yash went on to note that RealPolitik is usually a popular activity at fests. He expressed his optimism that it will live up to the high expectations that have been placed on it, and informed the AEP that the PPC is working hard to ensure that the participants have a good time.

In addition to fest-related activities, Yash said that the club conducts regular group discussions and meetings regarding current political developments. For freshers wishing to join the Public Policy Club, Yash says that he only expects basic political knowledge and a willingness to learn and take responsibility.  Working with his juniors in the build-up to APOGEE has been a fantastic experience, he continues, and believes that whatever the club has managed to plan and accomplish is thanks to the joint efforts of all its members.

Yash closed by commending the CoStAA for their helpful feedback, and for encouraging BITSians to gain insight into current affairs. He is proud of everyone who has contributed to the PPC’s work and hopes that this edition of BITS Pilani’s annual technical fest is a huge success.
