With Oasis just around the corner, the Oasis English Press sat down with Ayush Dhingra, the Coordinator of the Punjabi Cultural Association (PCA), to learn more about their participation in the upcoming fest.
Ayush explained that like every other cultural association, PCA organises a grub and works for celebration of Guru Nanak Gurupurab. This year during Oasis, PCA would host a flash mob and organise a stall. He further added that the flash mob would be incorporating bhangra and Punjabi songs, whereas the stall would sell artificial jewellery.
Ayush revealed that the preparations for Oasis began right after the mid-semester examinations. With Gurupurab just before Oasis, their schedule had been hectic, however, they had efficiently divided workload among different teams.
When asked about their inspiration for Oasis ‘25, Ayush revealed that artificial jewellery stalls were popular in the colleges of Punjab and he hoped for a good response in Oasis as well. He recalled that some of the previous flash mobs had taken place late at night with unsatisfactory DJs and had failed to attract a good crowd. He remarked that they would be hosting the flash mob earlier this time and hoped that good Punjabi songs would bring energy to the flash mob.
Talking about the challenges, Ayush stated that they had not faced any major challenges. Additionally, he remarked that StuCCA had been very co-operative. He remarked that his overall experience as Coordinator had been smooth and he felt honoured to be the Coordinator of his cultural association. Ayush ended by saying that the Punjabi culture is extremely lively and invited every BITSian to experience this energy to the fullest during Oasis ’25.
