As the 51st edition of Oasis approached, the Oasis English Press had the privilege of sitting down with Pratyaksha, the coordinator of RadioAktiv, to get a sneak peek into the club’s preparations for the fest.
Pratyaksha said that this Oasis they planned on conducting their flagship event, the “Prom Night”, along with a new hair colouring event, “Zulfein”. She added that this year the “Prom Night” would be adapting the Halloween theme of the Oasis, and this time they also planned on having Polaroid cameras and instant developers to let couples capture moments from the prom and take back the pictures with them as mementoes of the night.
She mentioned that for “Zulfein”, the club’s idea was to let the students of BITS explore hair dying with relatively less effort and cost. She added that rather than commit to a particular colour and spend much more on permanent dyes, ”Zulfein” would be providing temporary hair dyes, and they would be getting their products from Paradyes and stylists from Javed Habib would be brought to apply the dyes.
While discussing what made a prom successful and most enjoyable for the attendees, Pratyaksha mentioned that there were two key things to keep in mind – engaging the attendees and allowing them to have their own personal time. She added that striking this balance was a delicate task and took quite a bit of deliberation to achieve. She also highlighted the importance of taking feedback from everyone, and noted that this year there seemed to be a larger-than-usual wave of excitement for the prom amongst the freshers.
She said that her journey as the RadioAktiv coordinator had been a good learning experience, and she felt that this opportunity had made her more responsible. She also added that the experience had been rewarding.
As a closing message, she said that based on her experience as a coordinator, being a member of the organization team for any event was a very valuable and gratifying experience. She encouraged students to try and get involved with organising some part of the fest if they could instead of just being an audience to it. She hoped that the students would find the events organised by them to be enjoyable and encouraged them to attend.
