Radioaktiv

The BOSM English Press (BEP) met with Aryan Semlavat, the BOSM coordinator of Radioaktiv, to discuss their ongoing preparatory work for the fest. The club is gearing up to introduce two new events this BOSM, the first being Gel Blaster and the second being Crick Zone.

Gel Blaster is a 5v5 team-based tournament where participants are required to shoot targets with battery-operated guns and bullets made of orbeez balls. Crick Zone will feature a bowling machine, launching balls at speeds between 60 and 130 km/h, providing participants with a fun yet challenging opportunity to play in a netted setup. The pricing for both events is expected to range between ₹350 to ₹400, though final details are still being worked out. Furthermore, Crick Zone will provide a group discount to participants who bring four others, who can enjoy a reduced rate of ₹240 per person. The decision to launch new events came after the success of Laser Tag in previous years. While the event was popular, the club wanted to offer something new to keep it exciting, especially for second and third-year students who had already participated. Additionally, they aimed to address the lack of sports activities available for spectators.

Aryan discussed the logistical challenges, particularly in managing the inventory. With equipment coming from a vendor in Mumbai, coordinating the necessary supplies has been crucial. The team is handling much of the prop preparation themselves, such as creating helmets from scratch for Gel Blaster. Additionally, they are focusing on online publicity and through word of mouth, as budget constraints have limited their use of traditional methods like standees and posters. Despite the challenges, he remains optimistic about the team’s progress, acknowledging the complexities of managing both a large team and participant expectations while striving for a seamless execution.

As the club coordinator, Aryan expressed gratitude for having a supportive and enthusiastic team, especially praising the junior batch for their energy and initiative in taking on responsibilities. In parting, he mentioned that the club is planning on reviving some of the old events like the radio shows and auditorium events to bring back the club’s original essence. Alongside this, their focus is also on revenue generation and enhancing the overall experience for participants. The club is keen on ensuring that attendees feel their money is well spent, leaving them wanting to participate again.
