Radioaktiv

Providing the populace with a setting to unwind and enjoy themselves at the end of each day’s events during BOSM is something that the Radioaktiv club takes up. In an interview with Rohan Kela, the coordinator of the club for BOSM, we learnt that they organise four hour long programs in Gym-G every BOSM evening. JAM (Just A Minute) sessions will be organised on the first day followed by Beg, Borrow and Steal on the second. The third and fourth evenings will have open mic and Karaoke sessions to let people have a go at stand-up comedy, singing, and at playing instruments.

Kela admitted that last year some events were not up to standard as juniors were insufficiently prepared to handle them. Aiming for a much better show this year, they have recruited juniors who seem spontaneous, and plan to have “work sessions” to ensure that the new recruits – many of whom would be facing huge crowds for the very first time – are confident and can handle any situation that comes up. Rohan is happy with the work ethic of the juniors, who have put little pressure on him. He hopes the club dynamics will continue to remain the same.

A common issue the club has faced in previous fests is that the diverse crowd has different people who demand their preferred genre of music, which has resulted in unruly situations. This happens despite them trying to play as broad a variety of songs as possible. In the future, the club wants to set up a BITS radio station which would go on air for one hour every Sunday. They also plan to create a YouTube channel to encourage BITSians to their share talents. Rohan asks freshers to turn up for events in BOSM as in his words, “The first fest is always the best one.”
