RadioAktiv – An Interview

With the RadioAktiv club being as explosive as their name suggests, one can expect some stellar new events at this year’s APOGEE. An interview with the co-ordinator of the RadioAktiv club, Rohan Goyal has shed some light on the plethora of events to be hosted by the RadioAktiv club this year.

“We have some new additions this year such as the ‘The Escape Room’ with themes such as ‘Television Series and Hollywood Movies’. Apart from this, we’ll also be hosting a ’Game Lounge’”, says Rohan. “The Game Lounge”, consists of a kind of room where people eat, drink Coke, and play board games, video games such as FIFA, Counter Strike and many more with LAN connection. While the theme does not seem to have a major impact on the events this year, the club is actually planning on doing a backdrop for the “Game Lounge” incorporating a retrofuturistic design, but has so far been unsuccessful.

The one event is missing in this line-up of events is the infamous “Prom Nite”, hosted by the RadioAktiv club during Oasis, which gathers hordes of BITSians every year. However, just hosting events during fests is not what the club is all about. “We also do Radioshows for the BITSian crowd and upload them on DC++ and on our website: the last one being done on Valentine’s Day”, says Rohan.

“Ever since we came under the Student Union, we have been bestowed upon with a lot of responsibilities, especially during the fests” says Rohan. Previously, the RadioAktiv club used to host live Radioshows during popular occasions but the tradition has now been discontinued.

Rohan admits that the role of a co-ordinator is no walk in the park. “I wasn’t aware of the amount of work involved or the pressure one faces” admits Rohan and praises the CoStAA for the tremendous amount of effort they put in during and before the fest. ”However, thanks to sincere effort of the club members, it no longer weighs me down”, exclaims Rohan.

“It is indeed unfortunate that students prefer to go away during APOGEE: it’s a tech fest after all, one cannot expect the same set of events as Oasis”, laments Rohan and hopes that the BITSians actually stay behind enjoy the events that APOGEE has to offer this year.
