Safety & Medical Advisory Council

With BOSM right around the corner, the BOSM English Press sat down with Aryan Jain, the Fest Coordinator of the Safety and Medical Advisory Council (SMAC) to have a quick word about the duties of the club.

Aryan listed setting up two tents at SAC and Gym-G with paramedics in place, managing medical inventory, and having an ambulance on standby as his primary responsibilities as the Coordinator of SMAC. He also mentioned that they required permission from the CoSSAc, the Sports Council, and the Sports Secretary Avichal Khandelwal, to carry out any inventory-related issue. He also pointed out that SMAC is responsible for supplying medical kits to all the sports teams. Apart from the fests, Aryan also informed us that SMAC is also in charge of reporting beehives spread across the campus and handing injured individuals to the relevant medical authorities.

The Coordinator explained that in case of an emergency during the fest, the paramedics swiftly transport the victim to the Birla Sarvajanik Hospital. He specified that the members of SMAC were also well-trained to carry out basic first-aid. Moreover, Aryan also mentioned that an ambulance is kept ready during the prof show, in case of a medical crisis.

As the interview drew to an end, Aryan expressed his desire to carry out his duties faithfully and hoped nobody would get injured during the fest. He also mentioned that posters will be hung up with the SMAC members’ contact information so that the student body can swiftly contact the necessary individuals in case of an emergency.
