The BOSM English Press interviewed Pranay Simejiya, the Captain of the Snooker Team at BITS Pilani, regarding their preparations for the upcoming fest.
Pranay was enthusiastic in his response, saying ‘The team is super pumped.’ With BOSM approaching, the players are at the snooker table honing strategies and practising routines, such as potting and safety shots, day in and day out. The team practises early morning and evening, and some players try to practise between their classes as well.
Pranay said that he is proud of the culture of feedback and improvement in his team, as he considers every player’s input while making decisions. He finds being the captain is a challenging but rewarding opportunity as he holds the responsibility to not only keep up his own game, but also help the other players improve.
The Snooker Team is preparing for BOSM by playing intra-team tournaments as well as daily practice matches. Unfortunately, there is only one snooker table available for the team, which prevents practice sessions from being as efficient as possible. Other than that, Pranay says that the Institute and the CoSSAc have been very supportive by providing all inventory required for the games and practices. Pranay urges all snooker enthusiasts on campus to keep practising on the table and keep trying for the team as recruitments will happen every year or semester.
