Despite Oasis being right around the corner, the coordinator of the SoVeSA Club, Jeet Singhania, is an ocean of calmness. He sat down with the Oasis English Press (OEP) to talk about the club’s activities during Oasis.
SoVeSA stands for Society for Vedic Exploration and Spiritual Advancement. The club members look up to the teachings of the Srimad Bhagvad Gita for spiritual upliftment. This Oasis, the club will be setting up a book stall, hosting books on spirituality, paired with a serene ambience suitable for reading. This would allow people to unplug themselves from the hubbub of Oasis. Additionally, they can also purchase books on spirituality. The club would also be organising a quiz on spirituality. Jeet said that the theme of Oasis, Demesne of the Lost Gold, perfectly complements their club’s theme. He considered Vedic scriptures to be the lost gold, ‘a treasure trove of knowledge that is still relevant today.’
He shared that for most of the club, this will be their first Oasis experience and everyone is immensely excited, learning new things along the way. He mentioned that the 2021 batch was especially excited this year and always sought ways to make the events more engaging. With a strong bond among the club members, extending beyond just the club activities, the graduated seniors are also helping with the Oasis setup this year. ‘There were challenges along the way, but without challenges, it’s not fun,’ stated Jeet when asked about the preparations this year.
When not engaged with fests, the club holds daily reading sessions and activities. Jeet added that his experience as a coordinator has been great so far. He faced some challenges but his batchmates and seniors helped him a lot, allowing him to keep things flowing smoothly. On a parting note, he advised BITSians to enjoy their time and try out as many events as possible. When visiting their stall he requests them to keep an open mind so they may learn something from it.
