Solutions for the Effects of Urbanization on Birds

Samakshi Tiwari

Urbanization has led to a sharp decrease in flora and fauna around the world. Birds have also been affected due to a rapid decline in habitats and nesting sites, the increased use of chemicals, and other predatory reasons. Only those species with an ability to adapt can survive in this changing environment. As responsible citizens, we must maintain a conducive environment for birds and ensure that they are not critically threatened. This paper attempts to elaborate on easily implementable methods which allow us to harmoniously coexist with birds. The extent of damage caused to certain species has been touched upon in the paper, followed by the key reasons for the damage. Behavioural adaptations of birds to changing conditions have been discussed.
