The BOSM English Press (BEP) met with Hemant Seshadri, the team lead for the Students’ Union Technical Team’s backend vertical, to get an insight into the tech team’s workings for the fest.
This year marks the team’s first foray into fest-related work, as the technical aspects of all previous fests were managed exclusively by DVM. This year, SUTT has developed the app and website for the fest along with portals for the various departments, including PCr, RecNAcc, Firewallz, and Controls. Additionally, the portal for BOSM snaps was also developed by them.
Hemant mentioned that generally, the SUTT works independently on their apps, and thus working alongside various departments for a fest was a new venture for them. However, their collaboration has been smooth sailing. Expounding on their preparatory work, he highlighted that the tech team has been ‘nailing softwares[sic] from the start’. They began working on the websites during the summer and have consistently met their deadlines.
Hemant anticipated some challenges during the fest as a large number of people would be using their apps but assured that the team was all ready for them. He commended the members for their enthusiastic participation in the fest work. He shared that the team started out by replacing ID cards at ANC and has since evolved towards making complicated apps that are trusted by the administration for large monetary transactions.
On a concluding note, Hemant urged all clubs and departments to reach out to the SUTT for any tech-related help and wished luck to all the sports captains.
