Table Tennis (Boys)- Tejas Ahuja

With BOSM right around the corner, the BOSM English Press sat down for a chat with the Captain of the Boys’ Table Tennis Team, Tejas Ahuja.

In the upcoming edition of BOSM, Tejas clarified that the team would be participating in both solo and team events. He went on to explain that the team event would include three players from each team competing to win 3 out of 5 singles matches. He exclaimed that while singles matches may last around 10 to 15 minutes, the team match can last up to 45 minutes.

Tejas explained that a total of three teams play in BOSM on behalf of BITS Pilani, namely the teams A, B, and C, with team A being the strongest of the three. He carried on by talking about how the team had competed against the national-level players of Shri Ram College Of Commerce (SRCC) and won the silver medal in the previous edition of BOSM.

With the team morale high, Tejas disclosed that the team had been practising regularly from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM and that they had been diligent since the beginning of the semester. He added that the clash of team practice with mess timings, along with the difficulty in managing academics and sports, were the major issues faced by the members of the team. He expressed sincere gratitude towards the Sports Union for extending the Shankar-Vyas mess timings.

In drawing things to a close, Tejas remarked that Table Tennis had significantly contributed towards his overall growth and development as a student, by not only improving his muscle-eye coordination but also by helping him channel his free time towards a fitness routine.
