The coordinator of the Eastern Outlook Club, Navya Gupta, set aside a few minutes to talk to the Oasis English Press about the activities the club has lined up for the 50th edition of Oasis.
When asked to give a brief overview of the club, Navya mentioned that the Eastern Outlook Club is a fairly new club that started in 2018. He explained that the club discusses all kinds of Eastern media—music, cinema, animation—not just anime. Throughout the year, the club showcases the first episodes of cult anime, so people can explore more on their own.Â
As detailed by him, the Eastern Outlook Club has four events planned for the fest. The pre-fest events include a movie screening and Mangaka Matsuri—an art competition. The club also hosts Anime Quiz and TEO’S ESPOIR: Gameroom during the fest. In the weeks leading up to Oasis, the work of the club consisted primarily of coming up with a concept for the Anime Quiz. Navya mentioned that preparing balanced questionnaires for it was an arduous task.
The coordinator said that the first anime he fell in love with was Death Note. Some of his other favourites also included Monster and Naruto. Towards the end of the interview, Navya admitted that being the coordinator has been hectic, but the StuCAA has been very accommodating.
