Volleyball (Girls)

The BOSM English Press spoke with Sunanda Khan Bhaduri, the Captain of the Girls’ Volleyball team, to learn about her and the team’s experience in preparation for the upcoming BOSM 2023.

Sunanda mentioned that for BOSM, the playing team will consist of six members, excluding substitutes. A team usually comprises a setter, two players in the front who will play as spikers, and three at the back for receiving. All members of the team rotate positions according to standard volleyball rules.

She said that the team performs drills in the morning like crunches and stretches, jogs 7 to 8 rounds on the GymG tracks, and then proceeds to exercises to increase their shoulder strength. The evenings are reserved for practice through playing matches. She feels that the coordination of the team has considerably improved compared to previous years.

She mentioned that the recruitment process has remained the same. They teach individuals from scratch but specifically look for people who are athletic on the court and have good body movements. A few challenges that the team faced were training the new recruits in a month’s time and setting up coordination.

Sunanda said that she had been playing the game since her school days. She mentioned that her experience as a captain has been hectic, but she has been taking her seniors’ help with managing time. She added that she maintained a timetable to balance her academics, volleyball, and other commitments. As a message to the BITSians, she encouraged them to enjoy the fest.
