The clock-tower will outlast you.  It has outlasted everyone who came before, and it will outlast everyone still to come.  As you step foot onto campus for the first time, you will become a part of something that is the legacy of thousands of students before you. You will spend a year, or four, or five, immersed in something that was started by people who you’ve never met. And when the time comes, you will pass it on. 

So whether this is your first week here, or the last of your first weeks — welcome.
