The BOSM English Press sat down with Vatsal Nagpal, the BOSM Coordinator for the Department of Sports Publicity and Design (SPD), for a quick chat on their preparations for this edition of the fest.
Vatsal explained that SPD primarily worked for BOSM and BITS Premier League (BPL), and had five verticals; namely Photos, Videos, Design, Art and Decorations, and Media Relations, each of which had a distinct role in ensuring that the fest remained appealing and recognised.
He revealed that the Art and Decorations vertical was currently engaged in building panels and large-scale structures for decoration, while Media Relations was tasked with reaching out to prominent figures. Vatsal mentioned that the stunt performer whose contact was established last year had been invited again for BOSM 2025.
Talking about publicity, Vatsal shared that preparations usually began with a countdown post on Instagram 38 days prior to the fest. He said that this year, however, the team had changed things up by starting with a logo and date reveal, while still keeping the page active through regular videos and posts. He added that as the fest drew closer, the department continued to build momentum with daily countdown content to keep the hype alive on Instagram.
He said that the department plays a crucial role during the fest, documenting sports events through photographs and video highlights that are later shared on social media. He added that SPD designed both official BOSM merchandise and their own department’s merchandise, which would be sold during the fest.
Reflecting on the preparations, Vatsal explained that planning began as early as summer vacation to ideate on merchandise concepts. He revealed that panel ideation started soon after the semester began, with work sessions being held across campus spaces. While he admitted that the panel work was running on a tight timeline, he affirmed that the rest of the operations were running smoothly.
Sharing his experience as Coordinator, Vatsal admitted that the role has been hectic, as he had to balance overseeing multiple fronts while ensuring that the team morale remained high. As a closing message to the BITSian community, he urged students to participate in events and sports activities and keep themselves healthy by not indulging in drugs during the fest.
