One fine evening, the BOSM English Press sat down with Nishque Sanodiya, the Coordinator of NSS, to discuss the events they organised for this fest.

Every BOSM, NSS conducts Junoon, a two-day sports event, which happened this year on the 4th and 5th of September. Junoon is a sports event where specially-abled children compete and show their talents at BITS. It includes a cultural event at the Student Activities Centre, a recreational event for the participants, followed by the outdoor events. There were 83 participants and thirteen caretakers, facilitated by four NGOs. They used a large database comprising more than 150 NGOs to start contacting them and signing with them during the summer. They had a team of eleven people to organise the event, with five executive committee members. The event ended with “Junoon Nite”, where the students were also felicitated.

He added that they faced an issue with their manpower, as the long weekend meant many of their volunteers had left Pilani to go home. He was glad that the remaining people still managed to conduct the event smoothly. Another concern was children running away around campus and getting lost. He also noted that the CoSSAc had been incredibly helpful with the event, and especially thanked the Departments of BOSM Controls, Reception and Accommodation, and Publications and Correspondence.

He concluded by adding that every BITSian should attend Junoon at least once, as it is incredibly wholesome to support the specially-abled participants, and it can be a transformative experience for many to see their struggles in tasks we consider so trivial.
