With BOSM right around the corner, the BOSM English Press sat down with Sohan Bhattacharjee, the BOSM coordinator of the Creative Activities Club (CrAC), to discuss the club’s inner workings and the events they had lined up for the fest.
Sohan explained that the workforce comprised freshers and that sophomores were involved mostly in a managerial capacity, as well as teaching the freshers how things are done. He shared that the preparations for BOSM started relatively late this year, around the third week of August.
Outlining CrAC’s responsibilities, he explained that the club was primarily tasked with campus decorations. The most important job was to design the iconic letters displayed at GymG, which would centre around “FIFA World Cup” as their theme this year. Apart from that, CrAC made panels and paintings pertaining to the theme of the fest. The paintings would feature a portrait of Virat Kohli at BOSM. Since the fest served as the first working fest for freshers, CrAC restricted its events to a single activity—Splash. The event featured face painting and temporary tattoos, typically scheduled on a holiday to prevent conflicts with classes.
He elaborated that the majority of CrAC’s work was finished before the fest. During the fest, they would work solely on the face-painting event. To handle the heavy pre-fest workload, they split into groups of five to six people who would work on each panel. Even though the work had been going at a slow pace, he was happy that it had been smooth and was confident that they would finish before Day 0. He added that the work was relatively easier during Oasis since the freshers had had a fest’s experience and were well-versed with the work, but the workload remained almost the same.
The biggest challenge as the BOSM coordinator had been to manage time amidst the ongoing quizzes and tests, but Sohan was very grateful to his seniors for helping him out. In spite of initial doubts and second-guessing, he was proud to have pulled off a successful tenure with the help of his Joint-Coordinator and Secretary.
Looking ahead, Sohan hoped this year’s edition would raise the bar for BOSM. For the freshers stepping into their first fest, he advised: put the worries aside and enjoy every bit of the fest.
