Ahead of BOSM 2026, the English Press Club sat down with the coordinator of the Radio Controls Club, Rishit, to discuss their plans and preparations for the fest.

Rishit shared that the club primarily conducts a drone show during the  BOSM inauguration ceremony, and they also cover various sporting events via drone shots. He highlighted the latter by pointing out that they had uploaded a reel on the official BITS Instagram page, which had been very well received. This year, the club would also attempt to capture drone footage of indoor sports alongside outdoor sports, something which Rishit said would require a high degree of piloting skill.

He said that the club had fallen into a bit of a lull in 2023 as a consequence of the lockdown; however, from the next year they had been successful in reviving it through publicity and projects, and now attracted a dedicated base of enthusiasts of aviation and unmanned flight. Moreover, they have attracted attention and acclaim from members of the administration like the Chief Warden.

When asked about the club’s crowning achievement, he mentioned that they had achieved the runner-up position in Robofest for two consecutive years, earning them cash prizes of about ten lakh rupees. He was, however, proudest of his club being shortlisted for the International Micro Air Vehicles (IMAV) competition in Paris, even though they were unable to go due to funding constraints. These constraints were what he also cited as the greatest setback faced by the club.

As the interview drew to a close, he expressed hope for a greater degree of participation in sporting events from other colleges, and more streamlined time management and organisation for the inauguration ceremony. He ended by urging the student body to enjoy the fest to its fullest and to attend as many events as they could.
